About this Work
"This flower design represents the first in my work to follow an organic shape, rather than something geometrically planned and measured. It’s a template I’ve used many times to showcase a set of colors I wished to use. It’s all about color! The value gradient, (a gradient of light and dark), allows me to explore a range of colors, while adding a sense of depth. For this painting, I would paint from the outermost edge inward, and choose my colors as I worked depending on what I felt was needed. It is entirely intuition based."
